A Life of Miracles

Let's Begin: The Interview

As Blaine and Linda spoke about their life challenges, we were impressed by the strength of their faith and their generosity towards others less fortunate. We had the privilege of hearing all about Blaine’s greenhouse business in Pasco, WA, and Linda’s parties for kids.  We dove deep into their stories during a four-hour session, taking a brief break in the middle.

We could see from the very beginning that Blaine and Linda deeply cared about passing on their experiences and values to their children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. It was a wonderful experience to be in the room as they shared about their faith, integrity, and love for each other. Through this 3-4 hour interview, they passed on their legacy in many powerful stories from their lives and the choices they made that led them to where they are today.

We loved hearing the poignant messages they had for their children and posterity. We know their words will last forever now that it’s recorded for their family. We look forward to sharing some of their incredible story with you.

The Follow-Up

After the first visit where we conducted the interview, our editors created a rough draft of the film, during which they created a shot list of desired photos and videos to add to the film. We made a second visit to Blaine and Linda’s home, where we worked together to gather all of the necessary additional files for their film.  These included moments from their courtship, significant life events, and some footage of them together as a couple.

Post Production

Media Curation

Once we had all the footage that we needed, the post-production phase of the project began. This is where we take the raw footage from the interview and follow-up sessions and transform it into a cohesive story.

Our first step when starting to edit our films is to organize all of our visual assets, including photographs and archival materials provided by the family. We categorize the materials and follow a strict workflow so we don’t overlook any precious moments. This step is a pleasure as we sort through some of the unique and fun materials they’ve gathered of their family over the years.

The editing process always starts with a rough cut, where we identify and weave together the most poignant moments and narratives from the interview. We prioritized maintaining the authentic voices of Blaine and Linda, carefully preserving their unique personalities and storytelling styles. We couldn’t include every part of the interview, so we sorted through their most emotional and impactful moments to make sure those were included in the film.

This rough cut is what we use to create a shot list that we send to all of our clients. Blaine and Linda were incredibly organized and made our follow-up visit a cinch. We use this secondary footage to enhance and bring the story together and create beautiful seamless cuts, and to enhance the storytelling.

The music is one of the most important aspects of bringing a story to life. We deeply care about choosing music that narrates the story in the way the storyteller originally intended. Music is an incredibly powerful part in our filmmaking, and Blaine and Linda’s film was no exception.

Throughout their film, we explore feelings of anxiety and fear during times of hardship, and faith, romance and happiness in lighter times! Musicians like Moments and Kevin Graham help bring the film to life.

Final Checks

Once we completed a final cut of their film, a version was sent to Blaine and Linda for final review. This last review gives them the chance to look it all over and make sure there’s nothing incorrect or any other input they have on the film. This gave them one last chance to provide any necessary input into the film before final delivery. We care deeply about making sure family members are identified correctly, and we use the pictures or footage that mean the most to the family.
